The Fairy Tale Wedding

I hate to rain on Kate and William's big day, but isn't anybody uneasy about the hoopla when the couple was living together (i.e., shacking up) for months before the engagement? Talk about a thoroughly modern couple! Of course, there was something pretty sick about Charles and Diana only meeting thirteen times before their engagement. But that doesn't make Kate and William's decision right. It certainly is no preparation for a lifetime of love and fidelity. Statistics about the endurance of relationships after cohabitation are not reassuring.

Let's pray that the marriage lasts and that William and Kate become a true icon of family life for the U.K., but the start is a rocky one no matter how much it resembles a fairy tale.

  2. What a beautiful rare event for the grim and fading British
    * a young man and a young woman
    * getting married
    * in a church
    * sacred music
    * traditional ceremony
    * invoking God's blessing
    * without perversity or modernism

    All that was lacking was a loud voice from above telling them to "go forth and multiply."
